Band Fees
Students using school owned instruments has a charged rental fee of $25/month that will be appear on your student's Infinite Campus account. This includes school owned French Horns, Bari Saxes, Tenor Saxes, Bass Clarinets, Baritones, Tubas, and 7th, 8th, High School Percussion students.
This fee helps the district to pay for repairs that fall under normal wear and tear (new pads, popped wires, cleaning, etc.). This does NOT cover damage done intentionally or unintentionally that results in major repairs as a result of misuse or carelessness (includes, but is not limited to, major dents, collapsed lead pipes/bells, smashed keys, etc.). If it is found that damages were caused by misuse or carelessness, then the person using the instrument will be held financially responsible for the repairs. We have never had an issue with this, but need to make everyone aware of the responsibility that comes with using a school owned instrument.
Percussion students are asked to pay the fee beginning in 7th grade due to the fact that they are using USD 262 drum line equipment, timpani, bass drums, marimbas, xylophones, vibes, and auxiliary percussion equipment (tambourines, triangles, claves, cowbells, brake drums, etc.). We have to replace drum heads and mallets frequently, as a result of heavy usage. Students still play their own snare drums in class and occasionally will use their mallet sets in class, but as they get older they begin using more of the school equipment.
