2nd Place Overall of 10 performing ensembles at The 2023 Air Capital Invitational  September 30th. 

Junior Trombone Victoria McClure and Senior Trumpet Aaron Titus selected  to the 2023 South Central Kansas Music Educators District 5/6A Jazz Ensemble. 

The 2023 Hornet Marching Band places 4th in the Blue Division at the Kansas Bandmasters Association State-Wide competition at Washburn University of Kansas. The Band performed an overall 15th finish out of 21 performing ensembles from across the state featuring  some of the elite band programs of Kansas. 


The VCHS Hornet Marching Band completed the 2023 season in 4th  place out of 25 bands at the Neewollah Marching Festival in Independence, KS.
 

VCHS Band Students Sallie Longwell (23rd Chair Clarinet),  Addelyn Moore (15th Chair Clarinet), Addison Petrik (5th Chair Horn), Aaron Titus (11th Chair Trumpet) made positions in the South Central Kansas Music Educators Association 5/6A District Band. Sonareigh Bell (3rd Chair Clarinet) and Victoria McClure (2nd Chair Trombone) earned positions in the SCKMEA District Orchestra.

VCHS Band Students selected for The Wichita State University 2024 High School Honor Band: Ben Asmussen (Trombone), Annie Box (Clarinet), Aidan Case (Bari Sax), Sallie Longwell (Clarinet), Willa Lorenson (Percussion), Victoria McClure (Trombone), Waylon Minihan (Tuba), Addi Petrik (Horn), Vanessa Sanders (Clarinet), 

Isaac Schrag (T. Sax), Amanda Sexton (Horn), Kelsey Sexton (Clarinet), Abby Soellner (Tuba), Shelby Stafford (Percussion), Glendon Thompson (Percussion), Aaron Titus (Trumpet), Jackson Trimble (Trumpet), Troy Waters (Percussion), Payton Williams (Trombone). They will be performing in the Duerksen Fine Arts Miller Concert Hall at WSU Saturday, Feb. 3rd. 

Senior Pianist & Clarinetist Jenna Ju received Superior Ratings at KSHAA Regional Piano Festival and performed at State Festival. 

VCMS 7th Grade Band performed to a straight "Superior" performance in the 2024 Wichita Suburban League Instrumental Music Festival. The VCMS 8th Grade Bands performed well to an "Excellent" performance.

9 VCMS Solos and Ensembles  also achieved "Superior" Ratings.

Junior Baritone Owen White performs as a member of  The Wichita Youth Wind Ensemble.

 

Hornet Marching Band finished 7th Overall in the Shawnee Mission North Invitational October 16th. 

VCHS Hornet Marching Band receives straight Superior Ratings in the Central States Marching Festival at Kansas State October 23rd.

The 2021 Hornet Marching Band places 4th in the White Division at the Kansas Bandmasters Association State-Wide competition at Washburn University. The Band performed an overall 14th finish out of 22 performing ensembles from across the state featuring some of the elite band programs of Kansas. 

VCHS Band Students Hudson Brown (6th Chair Trumpet), Owen White (2nd Chair Euphonium), and Chase Ivey (Percussion) made positions in the South Central Kansas Music Educators Association 5/6A District Band. Jenna Ju  (13th Cello) earned positions in the SCKMEA District Orchestra.

VCMS Band Students for the 2021 Wichita Suburban League Honor Band: Nolan Jones (Trumpet), Jacob Kline (Trumpet), Sallie Longwell (Clarinet), Grant Nold (Clarinet), Melia Owings (Flute), Addie Petrik (French Horn), Kingsley Plumer (Percussion), Gabe Schaffer (Percussion), Isabelle Schrag (Trumpet), and Molly Tucker (French Horn).

 

VCMS 7th Grade Band Earned "Superior" Ratings while the VCMS 8th Grade Band received and "Excellent" Rating in the Pioneer League Music Festival at Andover Middle School  February 2nd. Both the 8th and 7th Grade Bands earned the highest point totals of the day. 6 Superior Rated Solo or Ensembles for VCMS Band Students.

VCMS Band Students for the 2017 Pioneer League Honor Band: Bethany Schrag- Flute/Ashlyn Nelson, Noelani Rowsey-Clarinet/Jayda Williams-Bass Clarinet/Braden Maltz-Alto Sax/Hudson Brown, Noah Schrag-Trumpet/Rae Parsons-French Horn/Sam Wallman-Trombone/Owen White-Baritone/Kelci Kipp-Tuba/Ella Weichman-Percussion.

Hornet Marching Band finish 4th in Division & 10th Overall in the Shawnee Mission North Invitational October  14th. Finals was canceled due to weather. 

 

The 2017 Hornet Marching Band places 3rd in the Blue Division at the Kansas Bandmasters Association State-Wide competition at Washburn University. The Band performed an overall 7th place finish out 22 performing ensembles from across the state featuring some of the elite band programs of Kansas. The highest placement for a Valley Center Band in KBA Competition.

 

Senior Drum Major and Trombone Gabe Karst was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of the High School Honors Performance Series with some of the top high school musicians from around the world. Auditions were based on 18,000 that were processed to select a group of 700. Students from all 50 states as well as several countries — including Canada, Australia, China, Mexico, South Korea and the United Kingdom — were chosen. Finalists were in New York City for five days in February, learning from master conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall.

Sophomore Bassoon Sophie Peterson & Junior Trombone Gabe Karst earned positions with the Wichita Youth Symphony. 

The Hornet Marching Band places 3rd in Class 5A at the Kansas Bandmasters Association State-Wide competition at Washburn University. The Band earned the high caption award in Colorguard  for the 5A Class. The Band performed an overall 10th place finish out 21 performing ensembles from around the state of Kansas.

VCHS Colorguard Members Adelynn Hewlett, Caroline Norman, & Anna Qualls accepted as members of the ICT Independent Winterguard competing around the Mid-West and at the WGI World Championship in Dayton, Ohio.

VCHS Band Students Gabe Karst (3rd Trombone-5/6A Band) & Garrett Rogers (4th Chair Flute-5/6A Band) gained positions in the Kansas Music Educator Association All-State Ensembles. Bari Sax Cole Ashcraft was named as sole alternate in both the State Band & State Jazz Ensemble.

Valley Center Instrumental Music and Parent Band Aide Organization hosted the 4th Hornet Marching Invitational October 4th with the "Big Blue Band" of Enid High School (Oklahoma) placing first as Champion.

Hornet Marching Band finish 7th Overall in the Shawnee Mission North Invitational October  18th. VCHS Drum Majors Wesley Crow & Jayden McCall earn the High Drum Major Award for the event.

Hornet Marching Band ends the 2014 Marching Season placing 2nd in Division & 7th Overall out of 23 performing ensembles in the Heart of America Marching Festival at the University of Kansas November 1st.

Hornet Marching Band finish the 2013 marching season making VC Band History for a first ever placement in Finals at the Shawnee Mission North Invitational October  26th. The Band finished 8th overall.

VCMS 7th/8th Grade Bands Performed for the first time as a Marching Ensemble in The 2010 Valley Center Fall Festival.

2nd Place Overall with a score of 70.0 at The 2010 Goddard Fall Festival Of Bands October 2nd. Eli Karst and Matt Dolezal chosen as High Drum Majors for second straight year. VC Colorguard and Drumline placed second in their sub-captions. The Band also achieved 2nd place in Parade Performance.

Freshmen Jared Kirkland chosen as alternate Bass Player in the SCKMEA 5/6A Jazz Ensemble.

First Ever Superior Rating with Marching Band in the Central States Marching Festival at Kansas State University October 23rd. VC Colorguard and Drumline earned "1" Ratings in each of their captions.

Superior Rating in Marching Band at the Southern Plains Marching Festival in Andover, Kansas. Colorguard achieved a "1" Rating while the VC Drumline finished the season gaining a "1+" Rating.
